Disciplinary Committee no.2016-17/037 and 2016-17/038 Desicions

The Disciplinary Committee investigated the MOL League game MOL 157 (Ferencvarosi TC – DVTK Jegesmedvek) where Peter SAKARIS player of DVTK Jegesmedvek collided with an opponent. Penalty was not called. The Committee made the following conclusions:

The player of DVTK Jegesmedvek after his team was scored a goal, pushed the opponent player from behind toward the net.

IIHF RULE 123 – CHECKING FROM BEHIND

DEFINITION: A player who delivers a check to a vulnerable player who is not aware of the impending hit or who is unable to protect or defend himself from such a hit. The point of contact is the back of the body. A player who hits an opponent from behind into the boards, the goal frame, or in open ice in any manner will be assessed at least a minor and misconduct penalty. A player who recklessly endangers an opponent as a result of checking from behind will be assessed a major penalty and game-misconduct penalty.

According to the Disciplinary Comitee, the player hit the opposing player intentionallyr from behind with his stick towards the net. The meeting point was the rear of the body. The movement happened after a goal, it was unnecessary and it could cause injury.

The Disciplinary Commitee suspends Peter SAKARIS, the DVTK Jegesmedvek player for 1 MOL League match.

The player will sit out his sentence at the next MOL League or Hungarian Cup match.

The Disciplinary Committee investigated the MOL League game MOL 156 (Fehervari Titanok – UTE) where after 54 minutes Balazs VARGA (Fehervari Titanok) was penalized 2 minutes (CHARG). The Committee made the following conclusions:

The player of Fehervari Titanok collided with the opposing player in the 54th minute of the match. During the collision, he hit the head of the UTE player.

IIHF RULE 124 – CHECKING TO THE HEAD OR NECK

DEFINITION: A player who directs a hit of any sort, with any part of his body or equipment, to the head or neck of an opposing player or drives or forces the head of an opposing player into the protective glass or boards. This rule supersedes all similar actions regarding hits to the head and neck except those related to fighting. There is no such thing as a clean hit to the head. Whether accidental or intentional, every direct hit to the head or neck of an opponent will be penalized. A player who injures or recklessly endangers an opponent as a result of checking to the head or neck will be assessed a match penalty.

According to  the Disciplinary Comitee, the player crashed into the opponent player's head with his elbow and hand from a great distance without the intention of acquiring the puck. There is no regular impact to the head. The player of Fehervari Titanok needlessly and recklessly endangered the physical safety of the fellow player by the collision.
The Disciplinary Commitee prohibited Balazs VARGA, the Fehervari Titanok player to 3 MOL League matches.

The player will sit out his sentence at the next MOL League or Hungarian Cup matches.
